Forum of Cities of Labor Valor Opens in Perm
From July 1 to 2, Perm hosted the Forum of Cities of Labor Valor "Victory in the Unity of the People!" More than 500 people from 30 regions of the country took part in it. Among the participating cities were Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Tagil, Omsk, Lugansk and others.
The main theme of the Forum was preserving the memory of the contribution of the home front to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War for future generations. Through discussions, exhibitions, presentations and practical events, the participants discussed how modern cities of labor valor can and should preserve historical heritage, inspiring young people and uniting generations.
At the opening of the forum, the head of Perm Eduard Sosnin delivered welcoming remarks. He emphasized that it was a great honor for Perm to host the forum in the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
- The war changed our city forever. Here, in the rear, factories worked, the wounded were saved, the country's culture was preserved. Perm became home to evacuated theaters, museums, and scientists. Our enterprises produced aircraft engines, artillery guns, and Katyusha shells. Tens of thousands of soldiers were brought back to life in Perm hospitals. Every contribution was priceless. Women, teenagers, and the older generation, who worked around the clock, giving everything for the Victory. Their feat is part of the history of not only Perm, but the entire country, noted Eduard Sosnin.
The Forum participants took part in various thematic sessions, such as "Preserving Memory for Future Generations", "City-Hospital", the Interregional Library Practical Conference "Cities of Labor and Victory", "Unity of the Front and the Rear", and "Young Shift".
On the second day of the Forum, a solemn ceremony was held dedicated to the 5th anniversary of assigning the title "City of Labor Valor" to the city of Perm. In addition, in the "Watch Factory" space on ul. At 28 Chernyshevskogo Street, a design session on new forms and practices of patriotic education of youth was held for forum participants.
